Grobbelaars Funeral Services had its inception in 2005 with the merger of two of Pretoria’s most prominent funeral homes, namely Rentmeester Grobbelaars and Church Street Funerals.

The merger combined the strength, expertise and best features of both companies. Both companies boast with histories dating back to late 1800 and early 1900. The Grobbelaars name is well-known in the funeral industry. WH Rogers was the first funeral home in Pretoria and opened its doors in 1898. Grobbelaars then expanded their wings to Krugersdorp on the West Rand where they acquired Seraphim Funerals on 1 September 2021.

To celebrate their first birthday, an Open Day was held on November 2 which attracted approximately 80 people. Among those who attended were Grobbelaars Seraphim Funeral Services staff Eddie Olivier: General Manager, Christa van Ryneveld: Branch Manager, Louise van Tonder: Receptionist and Frikkie van den Berg; Undertaker as well as Arno Cronje from Cremos, Public Safety Staff and policy holders.

The branch has also renovated the office to their clients’ needs which includes the office, viewing and coffin rooms.
