Two men suspected to be hijackers were arrested near a busy intersection on Voortrekker Road, Monument on Monday afternoon August 22 after Dowry Security followed up on a tip-off about a hijacked vehicle.

Dowry confirmed in a statement that a suspected hijacked Golf GTI was recovered and two men were apprehended.

The security company received information that a hijacked vehicle was tracked from the R28 Muldersdrift passing Silverstar and followed it when it turned left onto Voortrekker Road.

The suspects were stopped and blocked at the corner of Voortrekker and Shannon Roads and shots were fired. Dowry’s High Risk Tracking Unit, the Police Flying Squad, Gauteng Traffic Police, Police K9 Unit, Cordiguard Security and National Crime Assist were also on scene. Both suspects in the vehicle were arrested.
