Youngster pulled over, cops find illegal gun and ammo

Another illegal firearm is off the streets and removed from the wrong hands following an arrest in Magaliesburg.

Magaliesburg Police arrested a man aged 26 for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition last Friday, August 26.

Magaliesburg Police spokesperson Sergeant Kgomotso Mogwere said the suspect was caught by surprise when his vehicle, a silver Polo Vivo was stopped and searched by members at the roadblock that was conducted at the Koster and Carletonville Roads junction.

Investigations are continuing to determine if the firearm was linked to violent crimes. He will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court soon.”

Magaliesburg Police Station commander Lieutenant Colonel Mawewe Vuma applauded members for their vigilance and commitment that led to the apprehension of the suspect.
