Schoolboy assault case: trial to commence on Tuesday

The trial of Oupa Chembe, charged with assault, will commence at the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court on October 11.

The trial of 52-year-old Oupa Chembe, who faces charges of assault and malicious damage to property, is expected to start from 09:00 in the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, October 11.

Andrew Leask, chief investigator for AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit, said they act in accordance with a watching brief on behalf of Zander Oosthuizen, the complainant in the matter, who was still a school learner on the date of the incident.

“In August 2021, Chembe allegedly kicked a dent in Oosthuizen’s vehicle and assaulted him. Oosthuizen and two of his friends were still in their school uniform when the unsolicited attack took place,” said Leask in a statement.
