Scrooby brothers sentenced in 2009 murder case
The Scrooby brothers, Gavin Roy and Alan Shane were recently sentenced in the Krugersdorp Regional Court relating to the murder case of a lawyer back in 2009.
Gavin Roy Scrooby was recently found guilty and sentenced following the murder of a lawyer in 2009.
Krugersdorp Police spokesperson Captain Raymond Seboyane said that the 41-year-old Scrooby from Ruimsig was convicted and sentenced for murder in the Krugersdorp Regional Court.

According to Captain Sebonyane, at about 10:30 on July 27, 2009, a 59-year-old lawyer went to Van Dyke Street in Factoria to work. When he arrived, he was attacked and assaulted by the owner of the business and his bother. After falling unconscious, the suspects continued to assault the lawyer and threw him out of the premises.
An ambulance was contacted and the man was taken to hospital where he later died due to head injuries.
A murder case was opened and investigated by several detectives before Detective Captain Martin Smith took over. Detective Smith worked tirelessly on the case and the investigation then led to the arrest of Scrooby who was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for murder on count one. He was also declared unfit to posses a firearm. On count 2 and 3, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, he was sentenced to two years imprisonment wholly suspended for a period of five years with conditions.

His brother, the 36-year-old Alan Shane Scrooby was sentenced to two years imprisonment wholly suspended for five years.
Brigadier Happy Xaba, the Krugersdorp Police Station Commander applauded the excellent investigative work that led to these sentences.
