The fight against crime continues: 121 arrests in one day
Operation Okae Molao which translates to where is the law in Setswana was conducted in the Krugersdorp and Muldersdrift policing precincts.
Police sent a strong message to criminals after yet another operation saw many suspects get a taste of justice.
On Thursday, March 9 Operation Okae Molao, which translates to where is the law in Setswana, was conducted in Krugersdorp and Muldersdrift policing precincts from 06:00 until 15:00.
The operation was led by West Rand District Police Commissioner General Fred Kekana. The operation saw the police make significant arrests and the seizing of illegal substances and unauthorised possession to crack drown on crime in the area.

They were not alone as they were joined by the Community Police Forum, Mogale City Public Safety, Community Patrollers and security services, and The Department of Correctional Services among other stakeholders. The primary focus of this operation was to investigate illegal mining activities, search for unlicensed firearms, drugs, hijacked or stolen motor vehicles, and the transportation of prohibited goods. This led to SAPS conducting two roadblocks as they tracked down the suspects in Krugersdorp and Muldersdrift.

Throughout the operation, police made many arrests 121 suspects arrested to be exact. Their crimes range from possession of drugs, dealing with liquor without a license, murder, attempted murder, possession of illegal firearms, reckless and negligent driving, and malicious damage to property. Other crimes include domestic violence sexual assault and traffic fines that are overdue.

The conclusion of the operation saw General Kekana applaud all those who were involved to take the steps needed to make the community safer, most importantly sending a strong message to criminals involved in such activities. All the suspects who were arrested will appear in Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court.
