Victim chases after thief and policewomen intervene

The community of Azaadville was left inspired after witnessing a thief getting arrested on the spot by two female cops after being chased by his victim.

Last week and just a few days before the Easter long weekend, two members of the Kagiso Police stopped a thief in his tracks in Azaadville.

According to Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya, the suspect allegedly robbed a victim who was withdrawing cash from an ATM and fled on foot. The victim then decided to go after him. The foot chase then eventually led them to a service station nearby where the victim pleaded with the suspect to return the money.

Once they heard the victim’s complaint, the two brave policewomen decided to search the suspect. The suspect was pinned down to the ground and searched where they found 10 cards from various banks in his possession. The victim’s cash and card were also recovered.

A group of people then gathered around and witnessed the incident praising the two female police officials for intervening.

The suspect was ultimately arrested and has since been charged with common robbery, theft, and having the suspected stolen property. He already made a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrate’s Court and was remanded in custody for a formal bail application.

Acting Kagiso Police Station Commander Colonel Peter Mabuso was very pleased with the officials’ attitude and bravery.

“Members of the police family know what is expected of them. They showed the public out there that fighting crime is everyone’s responsibility,” praised Colonel Mabuso.
