Kagiso residents and police address crime issues
Recently, police have noted a rise in house and armed robberies as well as illegal mining in the Kagiso area and decided to speak to residents face-to-face.
The Kagiso Police recently took an hour and a half to talk to residents of Sinqobile near the Madala hostel to listen to their concerns after several complaints have been lodged recently.
Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya said the current acting Kagiso Police Station Commander Colonel Peter Mabuso met with the community from 17:00 until 18:30 on April 26.

The community was complaining about house robberies, street robberies, armed robberies, and illegal mining in the area. The meeting was organised by the local councillor.

“Colonel Mabuso was up to the task to provide answers to the troubled residents, some of whom were furious, accusing the police of not responding promptly.”

Captain Sibiya added that the councillor and his team afforded Mabuso the platform and that all the answers he gave were well received.
“The community was especially happy that police have deployed the relevant resources in time to curb the latest criminal activities.”

Angeline Mabasa, the newly elected chairperson of the Kagiso Community Policing Forum (CPF), also made use of the opportunity to advise and educate residents about the CPF and the importance of recognising community structures.
“The meeting was fruitful with all parties committed to working together to restore peace and safety in the area.”
