ATM bombed in Rietvallei: Suspects at large

Police launched a manhunt for an unknown number of suspects following an ATM bombing.

Police confirmed that an ATM was bombed in the early hours of Friday morning, April 12 in Rietvallei, Kagiso.

West Rand District Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya confirmed the bombing occurred at about 01:20.

“Police were summoned to the scene and found a heavily damaged ATM. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported,” he said.

Kagiso Police have since urged residents to come forward with any information that can lead to an arrest of the suspected robbers.

According to an anonymous eyewitness, who lives in the house where the ATM is attached, he was asleep when he heard a loud explosion and saw about 15 suspects robbing the ATM of its contents.
