Armed robbers strike Kenmare home, family held at gunpoint and car stolen

The family was tied up but fortunately not harmed.

An armed robbery occurred on Kerry Street in Kenmare today, January 7, at about 10:30.

Kailyn Portela, a resident of the house, stated that she, her sister, and their father were home when robbers entered, one of whom was armed.

“They came into my room and demanded my phone and valuables,” Portela explained.

“After taking them, they tied me and my family up while pointing a pistol at us.”

The robbers then stole the family’s car keys and drove off with their vehicle. Police are currently at the scene investigating the incident.

Adine Brooks, Portela’s mother, who was at work at the time, confirmed that the stolen vehicle was a blue Hyundai Getz with the registration number CJ 20 PB GP.
