Hijacked liquor truck recovered: Booze worth R800k
Truck hijacking syndicate members were arrested in Muldersdrift for the hijacking of a truck transporting liquor with an estimated value of around R800 000.
A truck transporting liquor that was hijacked in Germiston in the early hours of January 17 was recovered thanks to a vigilant security company.
Guardmax Protection Services director Jan Venter said they located a stolen trailer on the corner of Steyn Road and the N14 near Pinehaven that same day.
He further explained that upon arrival, the team apprehended two suspects involved in the hijacking.

“The first suspect was the driver of an unidentified truck pulling the stolen trailer and the second suspect was driving a Golf GTI. Muldersdrift police were contacted and promptly responded to the scene,” Venter said.
“Further investigation revealed that both suspects were recently released from prison and are part of a hijacking syndicate. Both suspects are profiled with several hijacking cases against them,” he revealed.
Venter concluded the liquor has an estimated value of around R800 000.
