More than 320 arrests in three days – 42 in the West
Following recent high-density operations, Gauteng Traffic Police and other law enforcement agencies made 323 arrests – 42 in the West Rand District.

The Gauteng Department of Community Safety issued a warning to the public regarding acts of lawlessness following high-density operations, during which 323 suspects were arrested across the province.

According to Gauteng Community Safety spokesperson Ofentse Morwane, operations took place in various districts between March 21 and 23 and were carried out by the Gauteng Traffic Police (GTP), Gauteng Traffic Wardens (GTWs), and police, along with other law enforcement agencies.
Morwane said 42 suspects were arrested in the West Rand District alone, including six people for common assault and domestic violence, while seven others were arrested for the possession of drugs.
During Operation Shanela in Randfontein, 22 suspects were arrested for various offences.
Additional operations took place in Fochville, Mohlakeng, Kagiso and Westonaria.
Gauteng Traffic Police and other law enforcement agencies remain firm in their commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents by intensifying law enforcement operations across the province.
“We commend the dedication of law enforcement officials who worked tirelessly to ensure that those who violate the law are held accountable,” concluded Morwane.
