Four suspected copper thieves busted in Muldersdrift

Four suspects were busted for suspected cable theft in Muldersdrift.

In the early hours of Workers’ Day (May 1), a security officer in the Pinehaven area reported hearing sounds like gunshots near the N14. He contacted his control room, which dispatched more guards to investigate.

According to Jan Venter, director of Guardmax Protection Services, upon their arrival, they spotted four suspicious-looking men, one carrying a backpack. He added that after being approached, the group attempted to flee, however, the guards pounced on them.

A search of the suspects revealed copper wires and pipes and various tools, including knives and a saw, believed to be used in cable theft,” Venter revealed.

Venter concluded that Muldersdrift police were contacted and responded promptly, and the suspects were transported to Muldersdrift Police Station for further investigation.
