Rain halts Brad Binder's Phillip Island MotoGP hopes

Treacherous track conditions and poor visibility forced officials to cancel the main event in Australia, leaving fans disappointed.

Krugersdorp MotoGP racer Brad Binder saw his race weekend cut short after persistent rain ruined his plans at his favourite race track, Phillip Island.

The 18th round of the MotoGP Australian Grand Prix took place from October 22 to 25, and according to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team, visibility issues arose with continuous rain, which ultimately led to the main race being cancelled. During the qualifying round, Binder qualified 13th.

Washout in Australia

Binder said it was a sad experience to drive behind the safety car for his last lap.

“To be honest, the conditions were not looking too good, and there was a lot of water on track. It would have been a sketchy, long 27 laps. A pity, and I feel sorry for the people who sat in the rain from early morning, and I hope I can see them again,” he said.

Binder will race again at the Malaysian Grand Prix this weekend, October 30 to November 1.
