KZN mass murderer tracked down in Kagiso
One of two men responsible for the mass murder of six people in a KZN informal settlement has been arrested in Kagiso.
A 28-year-old foreign national, who is one of two men behind the murder of six people at an informal settlement in KZN, was arrested by police in Kagiso.
According to KZN provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the arrest was made on July 4 following an investigation by the KZN Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit detectives.
“On August 17 last year, six men were drinking at an informal settlement known as the V/6 Section in Umlazi when they were approached by two unknown men who claimed that they wanted to buy cigarettes. However, they were told to leave as no one was selling cigarettes. According to a witness, the two men left, only to return moments later and fire shots at the six men. They were declared dead at the scene when police arrived,” Netshiunda said.
“Investigations uncovered that the killings were revenge-motivated. The victims allegedly fought with the shooters before the incident, and they all resided in the same area. The 28-year-old foreign national [arrested in Kagiso] was charged with six counts of murder and the unlawful possession of a firearm. The other shooter remains at large,” he added.
Netshiunda confirmed that the shooter had already appeared in the Umlazi Magistrate’s Court on July 7, where he abandoned bail. His case was remanded to August 14.
