Residents warned: Report crimes as housebreakings soar

Police warn residents about the surge in housebreakings and urge everyone to report crimes to ensure criminals don’t escape justice.

Community members in Tshepisong, Leratong Village and surrounding areas are being urged to report crimes to the police whenever they fall victim.

According to Brigadier Nyelisani Mabatha from Kagiso Police Station, the appeal comes after a sharp rise in housebreakings, with criminals targeting homes and stealing valuables.

“More than seven cases are reported daily, but many victims do not officially register complaints with the police,” Mabatha said.

Committee member Jerome Ndabandaba added that this makes it difficult to fight crime effectively.

“It is challenging to link suspects with victims when cases are not opened. While we are doing our best to combat crime, residents must help by reporting incidents so criminals can be arrested,” he explained.

Mabatha concluded that the appeal comes as local authorities increase efforts to curb crime and improve community safety in the area.
