Manhunt after officers ambushed

Two officers were held at gunpoint and robbed of their firearms while changing a tyre on duty in Luipaardsvlei.

Police have launched a manhunt after two on-duty officers were accosted and robbed of their service firearms by armed robbers in Luipaardsvlei.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, the incident happened on the night of September 26, when the officers were changing a flat tyre along Windsor Road.

“Armed men emerged from nearby bushes and disarmed the officers before fleeing the scene. They are unknown at this stage, and a case of armed robbery has been opened for further investigation. We are appealing to anyone with information that may assist in tracing these robbers to come forward,” said Nevhuhulwi.
