Six arrested for cable theft and infrastructure damage
Six suspects were arrested for cable theft and damaging essential infrastructure after a joint operation in Krugersdorp and Muldersdrift.
On Monday, October 7, a co-ordinated operation involving several security units led to the arrest of six suspects linked to cable theft and the destruction of essential infrastructure.
According to Gauteng Department of Community Safety spokesperson Ofentse Morene, authorities received information about six suspects who fled after being caught stealing cables.

“Members dispersed and managed to apprehend four suspects in the Noordheuwel area. Another suspect was found hiding nearby, while the sixth was arrested after a vehicle chase in Muldersdrift, where officers recovered stolen cables from the vehicle. All six suspects were arrested for malicious damage to essential infrastructure, cable theft and contravening the immigration act,” Morene explained.
The joint operation included Deka Specialised Services, Gauteng Traffic Wardens STT (WC), AfriForum Krugersdorp, Joint Ops Group, EC Security, and Piquant Security.
