Kagiso CIT heist: Mercedes rams van, investigation underway

In the recent Kagiso CIT heist, police confirm that a silver Mercedes-Benz rammed the cash van before the robbers escaped with money and firearms.

Police have issued an official statement regarding the cash-in-transit (CIT) heist that occurred in Kagiso on December 5.

According to Gauteng Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, officers arrived at the scene to find the CIT van already engulfed in flames.

She stated that a silver Mercedes-Benz collided with the cash van, injuring the two security officers.

“The robbers then fled with an undisclosed amount of money as well as the security officers’ firearms. They later dropped the firearms on Sebenza Street, where police were able to recover them. The robbers are unknown at this stage, and the matter is being investigated by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation,” Nevhuhulwi concluded.
