Trespassing call leads to burglary breakthrough
Routine trespassing call led security officers to uncover links to a previous burglary, resulting in the arrest of two men near Muldersdrift.
Two men were apprehended by a local security company following an attempted break-in near Muldersdrift.
According to Guardmax Protection Services director Jan Venter, on February 10, shortly before noon, they received a call from a client reporting that they had apprehended a man who was trespassing on their property and needed back-up.
“When we questioned the person, it became apparent that he was involved in a previous break-in at the same property on February 8,” Venter said.
He continued that, after further questioning, the man provided officers with valuable information about the whereabouts of another man who had also been involved in the earlier incident.

Back-up was requested after the man identified a location for his accomplice at a nearby informal settlement in the Lanseria area.
“When our officers arrived, a man was seen running from his residence, leading to a sudden chase. After a lengthy pursuit on foot, the man was apprehended and admitted his involvement in the previous break-in,” Venter explained.
“Various items used to conduct burglaries, as well as drugs, were found and immediately confiscated. Both men and the recovered items were handed over to the Muldersdrift Police Station for further investigation,” Venter concluded.
