Flying Squad strikes against vehicle theft

Three successful operations underline the police's West Rand Flying Squad’s ongoing fight against vehicle crime.

The West Rand Flying Squad (WRFS) continues to show that crime doesn’t pay, with three successful operations over just two days.

According to WRFS spokesperson Karen du Plessis, the unit had notable successes between February 14 and 15.

On February 14 at about 07:50, the team conducted a vehicle inquiry and arrested a suspect in possession of a stolen vehicle on Hector Peterson Street in Roodepoort.
“Later that morning, officers interviewed a complainant in Kagiso regarding another stolen vehicle. With the help of an informant, the victim’s abandoned vehicle was recovered at Madala Hostel,” she explained.

Du Plessis added that on February 15 at 20:00, two suspects were arrested for theft from a vehicle in Rietvallei, following information received from the public.

These operations highlight the WRFS’s continued efforts to combat vehicle-related crime in the West Rand.
