44 fines in learner transport blitz

44 fines were issued, with one driver arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Members of the Gauteng Traffic Police, the Mogale City Local Municipality Traffic Department and local police recently carried out an Integrated Learner Transport Operation in Krugersdorp to ensure the safety of learners on the roads.

According to Gauteng Department of Community Safety spokesperson Ofentse Morone, a total of 44 fines were issued during the operation.

Police and other law enforcement carry out the operation.

Offences included overloading, operating without a valid permit, failing to produce registration documents, and driving without a valid transport permit, among other violations.

One suspect was also arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
