Delivery driver killed in collision near Silverstar Casino

Authorities are investigating a fatal crash between a taxi and a motorcycle delivery driver on the R28 near Silverstar Casino.

A motorcycle delivery driver died after colliding with a taxi near Silverstar Casino on the R28 at about 10:00 today, March 15.

According to Acting West Rand Emergencies Regional Commander Itumeleng Legodi, the collision occurred when both drivers attempted to pass through a traffic light before it changed.

“Both drivers were travelling from the Pinehaven intersection on the R28. The taxi driver then allegedly made an incorrect turn, causing the collision,” said Legodi.

He confirmed that the motorcycle driver was declared dead at the scene.

Legodi added that the taxi driver fled the scene and that the vehicle has since been impounded by Mogale City Public Safety.

“The department will investigate the matter,” he said.
