According to Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Dimakatso Sello, police were patrolling along the R24 when they noticed a Volvo truck with a Namibian registration plate parked on the side of the road, with a Mazda sedan parked behind it.

The firearms found in the Mazda along with the magazines.

While observing the vehicles, officers saw two men carrying a mielie bag from the truck to the boot of the Mazda.

Members swiftly approached the occupants. Upon searching the mielie bag, they found the rifles and magazines.

All four suspects were arrested and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms,” said Sello.

She added that the suspects would be profiled and that the firearms would undergo ballistic testing to determine whether they had been used in the commission of any crimes.
