Co-ordinated operation ends in stolen vehicle recovery

The recovery followed multiple alerts and a co-ordinated search across the West Rand.

A stolen vehicle was recovered after a co-ordinated search involving security teams, law enforcement and community structures in the early hours of July 21.

According to EC Security area manager Johnathan Rossouw, the team responded to several License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology alerts involving a vehicle suspected to be linked to a theft case in the Krugersdorp area.

He said following multiple sightings in the Weltevredenpark and Allens Nek areas, EC Security, together with the Honeydew CPF, SAPS, JMPD and several security companies, co-ordinated an extensive search across the surrounding suburbs.

Security personnel located the suspected vehicle at the intersection of Florin Road and Nic Diederichs Road in Roodepoort.

A short pursuit followed before the vehicle entered a dead-end street in Wilgeheuwel/ Strubens Valley, where teams successfully blocked the vehicle and prevented it from escaping.

The suspect was taken into custody by police, while the vehicle was transported and impounded.
