Illegal firearm removed from Krugersdorp's streets

A routine patrol in Quellerie Park resulted in a firearm and ammunition being seized before they could potentially be used in a crime.

The West Rand Flying Squad (WRFS) has ensured another illegal firearm is off the streets following an arrest on October 5.

According to WRFS spokesperson Karen du Plessis, officers were on patrol in the Quellerie Park area when they searched a man and found a 9mm CZ85 pistol and nine live rounds of ammunition in his possession.

The man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm. The firearm and ammunition were booked in for further processing and investigation.

“The interception of the suspect has potentially prevented him from injuring other civilians in the neighbourhood and disarmed the suspect of an unlicensed firearm,” Du Plessis concluded.
