Gang bombs N14 filling station drop safe near Muldersdrift

Security officers responded to an early-morning explosion at an N14 filling station after a heavily armed group targeted a drop safe and fled with cash.

A group of heavily armed suspects stormed a filling station on the N14 in Nietgedacht, near Muldersdrift, on Tuesday, October 13, bombing a drop safe inside the shop after an attempted ATM bombing failed.

Guardmax Protection Services sales manager Gerrie van Rooyen said tactical response units were dispatched to the scene following reports of an explosion and screaming.

Suspects flee scene

Upon further investigation, security officers established that about 15 people held staff at gunpoint before fleeing with money and stock.

Staff pointed in the direction where the suspects fled, but security teams could not locate them. Van Rooyen urged the community to remain extra vigilant, noting that the ‘silly season’ began early this year.

He explained that Guardmax is aware of numerous recent incidents in the area and will adapt its operations to ensure public safety.
