More than 4 600 voters are registered in Ward 22, which includes Rangeview Ext 3 and parts of Noordheuwel, ahead of today’s Local Government Elections.

According to IEC presiding officer Brenda Tshifaro, voting at the Anglican Ascension Church has been running smoothly, with no issues reported.

“We opened the station at 08:00 this morning and can confirm that more than 200 residents have cast their votes. It was relatively slow initially; however, at around 08:30, more voters started queuing up,” she said.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution when driving between Red Thorn and Leadwood streets, where the growing queue of voters may affect traffic.

Residents are encouraged to bring along refreshments, as the temperature is expected to reach a high of 28 °C.
