In an open letter to the public Gray addressed the citizens of Mogale City for the first time. In the letter he expressed his gratitude for serving the community, outlining his efforts during his time as Executive Mayor and his message addressing the general South African public.

”Over the 16 months and 28 days, there have been many trials and tribulations. There are still many obstacles and challenges that Mogale City needs to solve, along with other spheres of government, but the valuable life lessons and incredible learning exercise, have capacitated, and inculcated a caring and compassionate government, with a responsive grassroots approach, so that ultimately the community benefits from improved service delivery which seeks to enhance people’s lives, as well as create a safer and healthier environment.”

Tyrone would also highlight some of the initiatives he took part in to improve the community where he mentioned the Beke Le Beke clean-up campaign, the late-night neighbourhood patrols and the community safety roadblocks. In his conclusion, he encourages the citizens of Mogale City to play their role in ensuring that the municipality develops to not only improve the lives of those who reside in it but also to play a role in moving South Africa forward.

”Lastly, in South Africa, we must realise and ventilate a critical fact, that the progressive realisation of the rights of South Africans can only be achieved with dedication and integrity, and this requires public representatives who embody the values of good government. We need public servants and not politicians. We will continually strive to protect the residents’ interests, and will unwavering execute our duties to the benefit of Mogale City.

“The fight for the soul of South Africa, and a working local government, such as our beautiful Mogale City, uniquely the City of Human Origins, continues to grow, develop and create social and economic upliftment so that poverty, inequity and unemployment can be tackled with a good clean, governance,” Tyrone concluded.
