Vandalism leaves large parts of town without electricity

Residents went to bed frustrated on Wednesday evening, December 11 and woke up angry on Thursday because there was no electricity.

Councillor Amy Steyn confirmed that Chamdor, Mindalore, Factoria, Kenmare and Noordheuwel have been hit by a power outage due to vandalism inside a control room.

“The Eskom technical team has been on-site since Wednesday night and has assessed the damage. They are currently awaiting the necessary materials to begin repairs. Unfortunately, there is no estimated time for restoration at this stage,” she stated.

She concluded to thank the Eskom team for their hard work.

This is the second power outage within days as Krugersdorp North was also left in the dark due to cable theft.
