Mogale City launches newly built waste facility
The launch of a waste facility in Muldersdrift is said to be the first and biggest waste recycling and processing facility on the West Rand.
Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) municipality has launched one of the first and biggest waste recycling and processing facilities on the West Rand recently.
To reduce pollution and improve sanitation, MCLM and various government departments and stakeholders gathered at the launch of the facility in Muldersdrift to outline how the newly built facility will operate.

The facility was launched at the Matongoni Business Park with MCLM officials, the Extended Producer Waste Association of South Africa (EWASA) and the Matongoni Group present.
According to Gauteng Department of Environment MEC Shyla Peters, the occasion marked a monumental step towards environmental sustainability, economic empowerment and skills development in Mogale.
“This state-of-the-art facility isn’t just a building; it’s a beacon of opportunity and progress.”

Also, Peters said, this will lead the way in waste management and conservation as follows:
• Economic empowerment: Creating green job opportunities that drive local economic growth
• Skills development: Equipping our community with the tools and knowledge to thrive in the green economy
• Community collaboration: Showcasing the power of unity between government, businesses, and black-owned enterprises
Peters cut the ribbon to officially launch the facility, handed over contracts to local partners and toured the plant to witness the innovation-driven project described as groundbreaking.
“Together, we are fostering innovation, developing skills and proving that teamwork can build a cleaner, healthier, and greener Mogale City. Let’s celebrate this milestone and pave the way for a better tomorrow.”
