Motorists are advised to avoid the area as the road is closed due to a sinkhole.

According to ward councillor Jacqui Pannall, the excessive rain of the past few weeks washed away the soil. She mentioned that a vehicle also got stuck in the pothole and that other vehicles, such as 4x4s, caused further damage.

The branches were put in the road as a preventative measure by residents this morning [March 3],” she said.

There are also massive holes in the ground, with pieces of the road also on the sidewalk.

Currently, the scene is not being attended to and motorists should avoid the street and seek alternative routes.
