Mogale City finally tackles potholes following heavy rainfall

Motorist's tyres are safe now, as Mogale City Road Department fixing the road for them.

The Mogale City Roads Department carried out repairs to severe potholes on Trezona Avenue on April 7 as part of an ongoing response to road damage caused by recent heavy rains.

In the aftermath of the downpours, the department deployed teams across Krugersdorp to address pothole issues.

Efforts initially focused on the town’s main thoroughfares, before expanding to include collector and residential roads over the past two months.

Resident Kobie Viljoen expressed relief over the repairs:

It was really difficult to drive. People were swerving out of their lanes to avoid the potholes, which was dangerous.

“I’m glad the repairs are finally being done – it’s much safer now.”

Ward 9 Councillor Lynette Zwankhuizen confirmed that the pothole problems in Mindalore were officially reported on March 31.

They’re doing their best to ensure our roads are safe for everyone,” she said.

In response to inquiries from the Krugersdorp News, Mogale City’s Roads Department confirmed that it has assessed several affected areas and is rolling out a plan to address the issues.

“We are implementing a comprehensive repair plan in response to the affected areas,” their statement read.

“We urge all road users to remain cautious and thank residents for their patience as we work to restore the roads within our targeted timelines.”
