Cable theft, vandalism leaves parts of town without power
Agavia, Heritage Manor, and Oatlands residents are without power due to vandalism and cable theft at a substation on Van Riebeeck Road.
Mogale City Energy Services is aware that residents of Agavia, Heritage Manor and Oatlands are without electricity following an incident of vandalism and cable theft at a substation along Van Riebeeck Road.

According to MCLM communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu, it is important to note that the substation was targeted just a few days ago.
She added that the cost of repairs will be millions to the municipality.
The repeated attacks on our electricity infrastructure are becoming a huge concern; the municipality is struggling with the demands required to replace materials which are destroyed during these incidents.”
Refilwe confirmed that MCLM has exhausted its stock of repair materials and is unable to provide a time as to when they will be able to get materials and when repairs will be done; however, they assure residents that they are working on restoring the electricity as urgently as possible.
