The essential maintenance, which includes patching and tree-cutting, is being carried out by the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport (GPDRT) in partnership with Johannesburg City Parks and Zoos (JCPZ).

Melitah Madiba, head of communications at the GPDRT, confirmed that the maintenance is specifically focused on the stretch between Hendrik Potgieter and Robert Broom. The project will run over selected dates from May 7 to 22, with road closures in effect from 09:00 to 14:00 on each of the following days: 7th, 8th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd.

JCPZ is managing the vegetation aspect of the operation, which involves clearing overgrown trees and branches that obstruct visibility or encroach on the roadway. Environmental considerations, including the safety of surrounding flora and fauna, are being taken into account.

The department has apologised for any inconvenience caused during the maintenance period and thanked residents for their patience and cooperation. For live updates and more information, residents can follow the GPDRT on their various social media platforms.
