Water pressure drops in high-lying Swaneville areas

The municipality has confirmed that the water pressure issues in Swaneville are temporary and should improve as the system refills.

Residents in the higher areas of Swaneville have been experiencing low water pressure since Monday, October 6, resulting in a limited water supply for many.

Mogale City Local Municipality’s (MCLM) Water Services is aware of this issue, and communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu confirmed this is due to restoration work on the water tower. This tower supplies Kagiso Ext 13, and the work is now completed.

“Although the work was not expected to affect Swaneville, pressure began to drop during the testing phase of the system. Residents are advised that the Swaneville supply system operates through gravity rather than pumping. This means that the system must naturally refill to the required levels before water can reach higher-lying areas,” she explained.

Water tanker has been sent to numerous locations; however, she said residents should not worry if there is no tanker, as it might have left to refill and will be back in due time.

Tankers can be found at the following locations:

• Eric Ndeleni Clinic
• Noah’s place/ ward office
• Tshwaranang Centre
• Parliament open space
• Mashudu Primary School
• Swaneville Hall
• Kwama Ngongo open spaces
