Noordheuwel water supply interruptions: ‘No estimated time for restoration’

The Mogale City Local Municipality said there is no estimated time for when the water will be restored to high lying areas in Noordheuwel.

The Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) said that efforts to restore water to high lying areas in Noordheuwel are still underway after the non-functioning Bell water pump station affected the area.

A statement from MCLM’s Water and Sanitation division said that the non-functional components at the Bell pump station have severely affected the water supply and has led to shortages in Lindhout, Loftus, Topaas, Wilde, Rice, Bell and Spitskop streets.

“MCLM’s Water and Sanitation team have been dispatched as per the last notice to assess the extent of the damage and is therefore in the process of sourcing critical components of the pump stations to enable repairs of the affected pumps.”

There is no estimated time for when the water will be restored and the municipality say they have dispatched mobile tankers to the PicknPay Noordheuwel’s parking area.

“However, for the additional tankers and detailed tanker schedule, community members should communicate with the ward councillor Lynette Zwankhuizen.

“MCLM thanks residents for patience and understanding and apologises for the inconvenience caused. Residents are also encouraged to visit the MCLM official website www.mogalecity.gov.za for alerts on planned or unplanned service interruptions.”
