Muddy puppy fun at Walkhaven

If you thought walking your furry little friend would be a walk in the park, you wouldn't be completely wrong, but rather completely out of breath at the Walkhaven Dog Park.

With a bark here and furry little friends of all sizes everywhere, it is hard not to fall in love with all of them at the same time.

On Sunday December 4, One Plan, Muddy Puppy, and Walk Haven Dog Park hosted an event to raise funds for Community Led Animal Welfare (Claw), but it was also a fun day for the pets and a muddy day for pet owners. The event was held at Muldersdrift’s Walkhaven Dog Park.

Lesley Delport, the organiser of the event, said that there have been Muddy Puppy events for the last five years in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.

More than 300 dogs were registered to be part of the day. For each and every event there is a charity that is nominated to be the beneficiary.

“The charity for the day was Claw so we donate a portion of our profits to them and then we also give some money from the dog wash to them,” she explained.

“Muddy Puppy and Walkhaven reached out to us and they nominated us as the beneficiary for the day,” said Claw representative Michelle Weedman. The event was a special occasion as adopted ‘Clawbies’ also made an appearance.

The event consisted of an obstacle course that had pet owners more out of breath than their pets. Margo was one of them keeping her parents very fit, the moment she set eyes on mud it was game over as she rolled in two mud puddles but when it was time to jump in clean water to get the mud off, she decided to play ‘catch me if you can’.

More dogs wanted to play in the mud and have fun in the sun, so there was clearly excitement in the air.
