Beach vibe at local craft and farmers market

Cradle Farms hosted a Cradle Craft and Farmers Market with a beach experience.

Imagine leaving the city and going straight to the beach while remaining in the city; that is what you call a mind-blowing experience.

Cradle Craft and Farmers Market did exactly that.

Cradle Farms hosted the Cradle Craft and Farmers Market on Saturday, December 3 and Sunday, December 4, with performers such as Chezelle-Nunu Shahadat from The Voice SA, who had everyone on their feet singing and dancing as she ‘took everyone all over the world.’

With over 70 vendors ranging from bread and locally made cheeses from local farmers to handmade food vendors, locally made skincare products, decorative items, handmade items and plants at wholesale prices, it is no surprise that this event is attracting an increasing number of people.

Etienne Steyn and Tshepo Mahloko have been hosting this event for the past two years.

With a dedicated kiddies area that includes a swimming pool where kids can have fun in the sun, as well as a jumping castle, slip and slide, and adult supervision, parents and guardians can sit back and relax.

“Tshepo is the one who suggested the beach vibe with the sand and I thought oh, what a waste of money which ultimately triggered everything,” Etienne said.

Tshepo explained how the sand became the main attraction, “Everyone saw the beach and wanted to come for whatever reason,” he emphasised. With no entrance fee and an R20 parking fee, it was fun in the sun, and what’s fun in the sun without a little gin to cool you down?

Mfundo Tshabalala and Lebohang Mosale, who created their handmade gin in 2020, joined the festivities by being the only gin stall available, “We are still new, myself and Lebohang we called the product because this is my friends surname and I am his business partner, this is his passion”.

The Cradle Craft and Farmers Market undoubtedly brought a Sowetan flavour to the far West.
