Shalene van Biljon who was the muscles behind the operation said that this was done from her heart.

“This initiative was an idea that I thought would be amazing if brought to life, and we relied on donations, we baked cookies, shopped around to get the best variety of snacks that we could,” said Shalene. Getting the gifts took approximately three weeks to complete as donations came streaming in.

With a total of 200 packs, cool drinks and plants that were given out to the residents of the old age home, it was clear that ’tis the festive season

Miriana de Villiers thanked the group saying that it was a tough year that they had to overcome.

“Someone once said, for the tough times that we have endured, we are now being blessed richly,” De Villiers said with her voice breaking as she shed a few tears. Due to the pandemic, the old age home has had a few unexpected changes which has saddened the mood of Christmas. But with the gift-giving, residents were truly thankful.
