Local church pays it forward

The Mega Minds Christian Centre recently donated clothes to about 30 adults and children from the community and about 15 church members.

The Mega Minds Christian Centre recently received a huge donation of almost brand-new clothes and decided that they need to pay this forward.

Pastor Moses Makhado explained that he looked around in his church and noticed that although they did not have many children and adults who were suffering, they decided to help out anyway as well as assist others in the community.

On Monday, February 13 they handed out clothes to about 30 adults and children from the community and about 15 church members.

He said that John 3 verse 16 says; “For God so loved the world that He gave His Son”.

Adding that they believe that love gives, and they believe in social relevance.

“We cannot just preach to the poor when we are doing nothing to help in the community both socially and spiritually.”

Many of the recipients were children from Sivewright Street and Makhado explained that when two elephants fight it is the grass that suffers.

“Some of these children are suffering due to parents’ unemployment, dysfunctional families, child-headed families and sometimes they are raised by single mothers.”

In the past, they have also handed out clothes to children living on the streets and given sanitary pads to the girls on the streets and at the moment they provide 15 to 20 families with basic food supplies every month.

“We are also doing street cleaning campaigns in Krugersdorp. And by God’s grace, we will do more in the future.”
