#WaterShutdown takes its toll: Water aid in Noordheuwel and surrounds

It's tough times in and around Mogale City and Piquant Security along with the CPF decided to come to the aid of the community during the water outage.

Many residents of Mogale City were somewhat relieved when Piquant Security visited Noordheuwel to provide residents with water over the weekend.

Many residents have to live with little water pressure or no water at all due to the 58-hour water shutdown (which started on July 11) as a result of the maintenance work. However, that did not stop Besinie Olivier and Zander Kleynhans along with their team and members of the Sector 7 CPF to come to the aid of the community and provide them with water.

Piquant Security provided over 26 000 litres of water to the community.

“The community of Noordheuwel has always supported us as a business, we figured it is time we give back to them,” Olivier said. The company along with members of the CPF have been providing free water to many residents since July 15, who all queued up to collect.

What made it more heartwarming was that it was not only residents from all over Krugersdorp who were helped but many other residents who travelled from Alberton, Germiston and Benoni. Hundreds of people were seen outside the shopping centre with their families holding buckets to get as much water as possible while they wait for their water to be restored.

According to Kleynhans, at least 26 000 litres of water have been provided to residents and they intend on helping as many people as possible.

“We have seen many people come back to collect more water and we honestly don’t see a problem with it, if you already collected from us we welcome you to come collect water again, we don’t have a problem with it because it is about helping the community anyway,” he said.

Hundreds of residents lined up to collect water.

The security team and CPF will still be on the corner of Lud Hersch Drive and Harrison Road, Noordheuwel to aid the community.
