Kagiso concludes Women’s Month with a charity bang

Women in need were spoilt recently as Women's Month celebrations come to an end in Kagiso.

The Gauteng Provincial Archives Centre in Kagiso made sure to conclude Women’s Month on a high note by hosting a women empowerment seminar on August 25.

The event was organised and hosted by Ma Medi Antswembu, a women empowerment organisation based in Kagiso. The Gauteng Department of Social Development was also among various stakeholders who all came together to highlight how important women empowerment is and the significance of making way for more women in positions of authority.

It was the third annual Women in Archives event which saw many women taking part in the seminar, listening to motivational speakers, engaging with stakeholders, and understanding the vital role they play in society. From mothers, working women, stay-at-home moms, married women or single women, the event was open to women of all walks of life. They were also given the space to ask questions and engage with one another to understand the challenges they face and how they can overcome them.

Programme director Palesa Makhaphela was happy to see the reception of the event and added how important it was to host the seminar.

“Women empowerment, to us, is all about reaching and supporting one another as women. We do this with the sole purpose of helping each other and giving each other the space to learn,” Makhaphela said.

The event was a success as it saw sanitary products being donated to women in need.
