Tourism Month: Big market day planned in Kagiso

Tourism Month is celebrated throughout September and while various departments in government will be hosting numerous events to commemorate the occasion, it will be no different in Mogale City.

“Annually, as part of celebrating Tourism Month, the municipality in collaboration with the Kagiso Local Tourism Association will be hosting a Tourism Market Day in Kagiso under the theme ‘Howzit Kagiso’. The initiative will involve the municipality partnering with the tourism product owners at Kagiso Mall on September 27,” said Mogale City Local Municipality communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu.

The market will take place from 08:00 to 17:00 and visitors can expect arts and craft exhibitions, live music performances, on-stage raffles, business promotion segments and speakers.

“The collaboration is an important initiative as the municipality is the custodian of tourism development in the entire municipality while the local tourism association plays a key role in terms of stakeholder’s engagement for the municipality as a membership-driven registered organisation, operating primarily in the township,” she added.

Mahlangu continued the objective of the market is to create a vibrant market environment where local business owners can showcase their products, network, and learn from industry experts and each other, ultimately, contributing to the economic growth of the township.

“Small businesses are the backbone of the local economy, creating jobs and stimulating economic growth. They offer unique products and services, enhancing the township’s reputation and attracting visitors. The market will offer businesses an opportunity to increase visibility, gain potential sales, connect with customers, receive feedback, and improve their offerings,” Refilwe concluded.
