Hospital celebrates Heritage Month tribe style
Staff and stakeholders of Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital celebrated Heritage Month in style by showcasing the various cultures in traditional attire.
Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital went out of its way recently to create awareness of cultural diversity during Heritage Month celebrations.
According to the chairperson of the events team, Charles Mabasa, they presented the ‘Perfect Traditional Wedding’ theme enabling staff to share their knowledge and expertise in co-ordinating weddings according to different cultures.
“The wedding theme is just an additional element complementing the normal cuisine tasting, dances and preparations done every year in our institution,” Charles said.
During her welcoming address, Nursing Service Manager Diana Ngwenya said, “On behalf of management, I would like to offer my sincere gratitude to all staff. This is a day to rejoice and thank the Lord.”
Thereafter, dancers made their way to a stage for a wedding presentation followed by a food tasting. This included different traditional cuisines which were well presented on tables.
Hospital CEO Dr Rodney Pheto said, “Heritage signifies the recognition of identity, culture, religion, language and the way of life of an individual or community. Celebrating one’s heritage means that you are celebrating your origin and those who came before you. For the staff, it is important that they celebrate their uniqueness and this forms part of the Employee Value Proposition.”
