Miracle in Chamdor: 14 injured, but no deaths in taxi crash

Mogale Fire and Rescue reports multiple life-threatening injuries after a weekend taxi crash, which required a large emergency response.

Following a major taxi crash on December 6 on Chamdor Road, where 14 people were injured, Mogale City’s Fire and Rescue released an official incident report.

According to station officer Jaco van der Westhuizen, the call came in around 11:55, and upon his team’s arrival, they found a taxi overturned on its roof with multiple injured passengers.

Several emergency services were on the scene, including Station 38 fire personnel, police, and the Gauteng Provincial Government’s emergency management services.

“There were no fatalities, however, four people sustained life-threatening injuries and 10 suffered serious but not immediately life-threatening injuries,” Van der Westhuizen reported.

He noted that managing traffic and controlling spectators were significant challenges during the response.
