Noordheuwel lapa destroyed in grass fire

The incident serves as another reminder of how quickly grass fires can spread to nearby properties during the dry season.

A lapa in the Noordheuwel area was destroyed on July 22 after a grass fire spread to the structure.

Mogale Fire and Rescue responded swiftly to the incident.

According to station officer Jaco van der Westhuizen, the fire department received a call shortly after midday reporting that a grass fire had spread to a lapa.
