It sounds all too familiar

I sit here with this week’s newspaper and read the cover story, it seems all too familiar!

I too gave birth to my first son there (Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital) in 2009 and experienced more or less the same treatment from the staff!

I was shouted at and left in pain and tears! It’s supposed to be a beautiful time in a woman’s life – bringing a life into the world. But gosh, the way people get treated these days are beyond words!

To make a long story short, I also left the same day and couldn’t wait to get out of there and back home! I was traumatised for months. Just thinking of that day made me miserable and sad!

Now expecting our second son I think back on my first experience and it scares me! Thanks to my wonderful and loving husband I now have medical aid and that place won’t ever see me again!

It’s sad how poorly women are treated! I kept all the pain and anger I felt towards them for myself for such a long time and I’m happy to see that someone has taken a step and complained. But I’m sure the hospital just will not be bothered!

Why take on a job working with people when you can’t respect or treat them kindly? Then you should not be there!
