I do not entertain racists

Thabile Mange from Kagiso writes:

I have been asked why I have not responded to the racist responses to my previous letter in the NEWS.

The answer is simple: I have no time for racists. They can indulge themselves as much as they want, I will not entertain them.

The one thing I have observed is the bold resurgence of racists from their cocoon. They are now publicly displaying their arrogance and insensitivity towards the majority of people of this country.

We have forgiven whites without them returning the favour. We have extended a hand of reconciliation but they have not reciprocated. This is what the author and political analyst Xolela Mangcu described in his biography about Steve Biko as “forgiveness without repentance”.

The above is a clear indication that whites are not sorry and remorseful about oppressing and suppressing us. Hence they have the balls to tell us to “get over apartheid”.

I read a story about a white primary school teacher in the Free State who likened black people to baboons. He kept the old flag in class and called black students names and got away with murder.

It was not until he was exposed by a concerned parent who was informed of the behaviour of the teacher at school by his kids. The poor man is now being harassed and accused of being a bad parent to his kids by his fellow white people. Unfortunately, that’s the price you pay for exposing racists.

Whites suffer from superiority complex and Baaskap mentality. They oppressed and suppressed us. They killed and jailed our own. Now they are telling us to get over it. They think such callous and senseless suffering for being black – and for so many years – is something you can just shrugged it off and move on with your life.

Clearly, they are ignorant of the extent of the damage apartheid has caused in our lives. As a matter of fact, they don’t give a damn. That’s how cruel they are.

Where is Julius Malema when you need him the most?

Racism has been institutionalized in this country. And as such, it will take time to uproot it. But in the meanwhile, we must fight it everywhere we see it. And racists must be exposed and shamed. This country doesn’t need them.

One thing is certain: racists will never miss an opportunity to answer this letter. Their pride won’t allow them not to respond. They are so predictable.

But as I have already indicated in my opening: I will not entertain them.
