The Bible is clear

The Bible is clear, “Don’t forsake the gathering together of believers”.

Church on the radio and tv are great, especially for people who have been hurt or disappointed by the church.

You don’t have to get involved in the politics, you don’t have to pay money and you can switch off or change the channel at any time. Nice!

A few years ago both of our children were overseas – our son on the Isle of Jersey and our daughter in Norway. We used to chat on Skype. We could hear their voices and even see them. It was great.

But nothing can compare with waiting at the airport for them, watching them walk out at arrivals. The hugs and kisses cannot be described.

Then getting home and just being together was so special. Family is a gift from God.

Sunday morning getting together is a tradition for me.

Getting together, singing, the sermon and, yes, the fellowship are special. Have I ever been hurt in church? Yes. Have I ever been disappointed by people in the church? Yes. But like a family we forgive, forget and try again. I regularly have to remind myself that just as I have been hurt by others, some have been hurt by me. That is family.

The Bible is clear, “Don’t forsake the gathering together of believers”.

PS. Jesus was hurt and betrayed by his disciples, but he didn’t turn his back on them.
